At 15 km from the camping le Village Insolite, you can reach Saint Malo.

Either by the road of Saint Méloir des ondes arriving in Saint Malo by the Madeleine district which can then lead you to the quartier of Saint Servan then Intra Muros.

Either by road to Cancale and the Red Gates, via Saint Coulomb, then Rothéneuf and Saint Malo to Intra Muros.

The bus line 14 takes you to the center of Saint Malo at departure from Saint Benoît des ondes.

Saint Malo, the Corsair City

Saint Malo, also called the Cité Corsaire, takes this name from its History. At the beginning, the City of Alet was built, then over the centuries many navigators succeeded one another ensuring the fame and then the wealth of the city. In the 16ᵉ century, Jacques Cartier discovers Canada and many ship owners develop the wealth of the city by going to Newfoundland. The famous architect Vauban built a wall of ramparts and colossal stone houses which make Saint Malo a fortified city. Then, in the 18ᵉ century, the privateers Duguay Trouin and Surcouf brought prosperity to Saint Malo. During World War II, in 1944, the city walls and the town were almost completely destroyed and then rebuilt.

Indeed, you will be surprised by Intra Muros, a city surrounded by huge stone walls looking like a fortress. Starting from the Chateaubriand square, many cobbled alleys start, which will make you discover Intra Muros, you will get lost there before joining the watchtower which will allow you to go around the fortified city in height. Then, you will see the different forts and islets that surround the city, the National Fort, Grand Bé , Petit Bé, and the Conchée Fort in the distance. Afterwards, you can put your towel on the beach of Bon secours with its seawater swimming pool or walk to the Môle des Noires, a footbridge that marks the entrance to the port and the arrival of ferries departing either for England or the Normandy Anglo islands such as Jersey or Guernsey.

Don’t forget to discover the Saint Servan district, the historical district of Saint Malo, where the visits of the city of Alet and the Solidor Tower are a must. Leaving from the Sablons port, set off on a 15-minute hike that will take you to Solidor, discovering bunkers that are remnants of the 2nd World War. Less invaded by tourists, take the opportunity to take a break in one of the restaurants or pancake shops located there. You will see Dinard, the jewel of the Emerald Coast and the Rance dam which stretches out over the sea and allows to reach Saint Malo in Dinard.
